The first North Eastern Public Health Network – Health Protection (NEPHN-HP) Public Health Clinical Series was held on 30 April 2025 and featured an informative session on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The webinar provided information to support clinicians managing patients who are infected with or carrying (“colonised”) AMR organisms, as well as strategies to prevent AMR developing.
Watch special guests Dr Stephen Guy (Infectious Diseases Physician and Director of Infectious Diseases, Eastern Health) and A/Prof Norelle Sherry (Deputy Director, Microbiological Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory) discuss how we can prevent and control AMR in the community:
Topics covered include:
- Risk factors and recent state and local trends in AMR epidemiology
- What happens when a patient is diagnosed with a notifiable AMR organism
- How to manage patients who are infected with or colonised with AMR organisms in the community and in residential settings
- How to prevent AMR through best practice prescribing.
