If you’re new to the North Eastern Public Health Unit (NEPHU) website, here’s everything you need to know.
We’re excited to introduce you to the new NEPHU website, which has been designed to provide our community members, healthcare professionals, and local partners with easy-to-access public health information.
This new site offers a wide range of NEPHU-created and external resources to help you stay informed and improve community health.
Explore our Health Topics section
A standout feature of our new website is the expanding range of health information and resources, covering crucial topics such as communicable disease management, environmental health, healthy eating, sexual and reproductive health, and more. This hub of information is designed to offer critical information to community members, health professionals, and stakeholders with practical health advice, healthy living tips, and details on local services and support programs.
Notably, as NEPHU collaborates with the Department of Health to manage the public health response to many communicable diseases, this section features the ‘Communicable Disease Notification Process’ page – a vital resource providing clear instructions and information for medical practitioners, pathology services, and the public on their roles in managing notifiable medical conditions.
By following these guidelines, we can help prevent onward transmission and protect the health of our local community.
Learn more about NEPHU’s work
Our new website also includes an ‘About NEPHU’ section, where you can learn more about who we are and the work we do to promote better health across north-eastern Melbourne. We also have a dedicated ‘Reports and Publications’ section that brings together a collection of resources with valuable information and evidence-based reports that highlight our activities and the health trends affecting our region.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why is NEPHU moving from The Well to a new NEPHU website?
NEPHU has developed and grown as an organisation, and we now have the need to transition from The Well website to a new purpose-built NEPHU website. The new website will still cover Health Promotion and Prevention but will now also include information on Health Protection.
What was The Well previously used for?
An information hub that contained training opportunities, resources, learnings for organisations and professionals working in health promotion and prevention. The Well was carried over to NEPHU when the PCPs transitioned into the LPHUs.
What channels does NEPHU have available to promote my organisation’s resources?
- North Eastern Public Health Network (NEPHN) – Opportunities to present on initiatives and projects.
- Newsletters – Various newsletters for different audiences
- New website – Health alerts and health topics (including resources)
- Social Media – Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok
What kind of resources and information will we be able to contribute to the new website?
We would recommend that you contact us with the item you want to promote, and we can enable it to be presented on the best platform available.
