Urban Agriculture Month is a dedicated time to highlight the importance of local food systems, green spaces, and the urban agriculture movement happening in backyards, community gardens and nature strips.
This month serves as a platform for educating the community about sustainable practices and the benefits of growing food in urban environments.
SUSTAIN: The Australian Food Network hosted the first national Urban Agriculture Month in 2021 and each year, the number of events and participants has grown each year since.
Engaging in urban agriculture not only enhances our local food security but also brings people together. It fosters community spirit, promotes mental and physical health, and helps reduce our carbon footprint. By participating in Urban Agriculture Month, you can learn new skills, share experiences, and connect with their neighbours.
